"Lau Kau" was back again

MORNING WORLD…..

MORNING WORLD…..Our pal “Lau Kau” was back again yesterday, and the “Great Dane” was up to his usual tricks with around 50 fish for the day including 2 Arapaima lots of Amazon, Asian and Tiger Red Tail Catfish, Pacu and Walking Catfish, several double hookups and probably more San Mig Lites made for another very busy and well deserved day and we would like to thank him for his ongoing support as he has been the only customer we have seen this week. The weekend is upon us and days like this are the norm so with lots of space, lots of hungry fish, a fridge full of cold ones and slashed rates why not take some time out and come and enjoy some…..”FUNFISHIN!”……🐟🎣🐠🐟🎣🐠🐟🎣🐠😎

We have had a couple of people ask us if we are currently doing any deals and so the poster below should answer that question as we are basically offering our fishing at half price in an effort to tempt ex pats and remaining stranded tourists on the Island. All the usual things are included in the price and with very little pressure on the lake, very good catch rates are to be expected. We have removed our short 3 hour session as it would just not be worth doing and the half day package is great value anyway.

Please note that we do not offer hourly rates and the packages that we are offering do not even come close to meeting our running costs so please do not ask for further reductions.

We were also offering a half days fishing with 8 cold ones included a couple of days a week for just 1,000 baht (do the math) but we had no takers so we will have a re think.

Virtually all businesses here are struggling with the majority not even open and many perhaps closed for good. We are very aware that this is the same world over and this is not a cry for help, just putting it out there for you and the fish photos were all caught in the last week so why not come and catch some for yourselves and enjoy some “FUNFISHIN!”…..??????????

MORNING WORLD…..

Things have been very quiet here for the last few days which has given us the chance to get some of the never-ending jobs and maintenance out of the way but by mid-afternoon, a little R&R was called for and Jen asked the lads to catch a few Java Barb and Tilapia for her.

Using light tackle and very small hooks with just a pinch of ground bait on the hook the lads set about their work and were both into Pacu instantly. Jacks’ next cast just a little way out saw his float zoom off and then he was spooled and the line was broken with a crack…..lesson to be learned there me thinks! We could see the float so we set about trying to retrieve it along with whatever had taken the bait and before long we had it and the lads did a good job of tying it off to another rod. We soon realised that this was a decent fish, so yours truly took over and I soon recognised to feel of a Mekong Catfish, no easy task to get in on such light line so the fish had to be played as gently as possible. These fish are extremely hard fighting, and every time we gained some ground the fish thought otherwise and off she went again. This was repeated several times until after a long-fought battle we got her into the net.

We normally catch lots of these fish during the dry season and see very little of them the rest of the year but this year has been different and this is the first Mekong of any size that we have caught. Over recent days we have seen a lot more evidence of them rolling on the surface so hopefully, this is a sign that they are back on the feed again and if so anyone fishing can expect a real work out as they go like trains.

I had planned to do some light fishing myself as the sun started to set but after my little battle “feet up and a cold one” was my preferred choice! Jen never did get her Java Barb or Tilapia, maybe we’ll have another go later today but with stronger line please lads!

The catch rates here have been off the scale of late, our rates are slashed, there’s lots of space and the fridge is always stocked so if you fancy some action come and join us for some ……………”FUNFISHIN!”……….🐠🎣🐟🐠🎣🐟🐠🎣🐟😎

MORNING WORLD…..

Monday morning we heard the sad news that our pal “Dodge” had passed away in the early hours after a short battle with the evil that is cancer. The first picture shows Dodge posing in front of the first fish he had ever caught, a nice Siamese Carp on a fun fishing match afternoon with some mates just a few months ago. I only had the pleasure of knowing Dodge a short time but he was one of the good’ns and will be missed by many, rest easy fella x.

After Fridays antics, the weekend was fairly quiet but still some good fish being caught from new and repeat customers alike. We are back at it again from 8am this morning so why not take advantage of our slashed rates, hungry fish, lots of space, very high catch rates and ……”FUNFISHIN!”……🐟🎣🐠🐟🎣🐠🐟🎣🐠😎

MORNING WORLD…..

A big THANK YOU to our pal Brian “Mad Mohally” and everyone who was involved in yesterday’s match.

The lads ‘n lass’s started to arrive a little before noon and after the traditional cuppa and bacon rolls were done with they got to task on emptying our fridge and a good job they did too!

Just a little fun with many of the anglers spending more time around the “office” table than they did by their rods but still lots of fish caught.

James Heenan won the contest after a good workout with an Arapaima to claim 5 pints of the black stuff in Mad Mohallys bar in Rawai. Our pal Paul Whitttal plugged away with pretty much constant action, lots of Redtail Cats and a bonus Alligator Gar while the others continued to up their catch rates with many of them fishing like this for the first time. English men, Irish Men and Scotsmen (there’s a joke there somewhere) enjoying the fishing and the craic along with Russians, Americans, Nigerians and of course Thais, a perfect way to bring people together.

There were a couple of “sick notes” and our pal Andrew Bright came out with the best excuse saying that he had to get his laundry done before the ironing lady came today so from now on he will be known as Andy “Daz” Bright and if anyone remembers the English advert from many years ago “Daz makes your whites Brighter”, very apt with Andys’ surname, we’ve added a photo for you mate and thanks for popping in and joining us for a beer while the washing dried!

As the afternoon went on we were also joined by several other non-anglers, here for the beer and adding to the banter on a very enjoyable afternoon in great company that saw many of us finish the day at MAD MOHALLYS bar in Rawai then on to Freedom bar for the live music and a nightcap after a day of …..”FUNFISHIN!”…….🐠🎣🐟🐠🎣🐟🐠🎣🐟🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻😎

MORNING WORLD…..

Our Danish pal “Lau Kau” fished his second consecutive day and once again he had a crazy session, well over a hundred fish for his two days! He has had a lot of luck with the Arapaima of late and again they were his main quarry this time. They eluded him on Saturday with one hooked and lost but he was not going to give up and he worked hard at it loose feeding “Luum” ground bait around his float to attract the small fish with a fish bait up in the water. Lots of rolls around his float and the Redtails and Pacu often nicking his offerings but persistence pays off and he was rewarded with a nice sized “Arry” in the afternoon proving that the harder you work the better the results.

Our pal and season ticket holder Dave Allen joined Lau Kau in the morning and he also had some good action.
The afternoon saw another couple on the adjacent bank catching lots of Amazon Red Tails, Tiger Red Tails, Asian Red Tails, Striped Cats and Pacu.

The Mekong cats seem to be more active with several rising and rolling which we have not seen for a while, will this be them coming back on the feed? We hope so as these extremely hard fighting fish would really put the icing on the cake for what are already crazy catch rates with crazy prices. We are closed on Mondays but at it again from tomorrow, why not join us for some ……”FUNFISHIN!”…..🐠🐟🎣🐠🐟🎣🐠🐟🎣😎
