As Thailand and Phuket start to come to life…..

When the Fish are biting
As Thailand and Phuket start to come to life for the high season we had a couple of fairly busy days. Nice to see some old faces once again and always good to welcome new ones. Thanks to our old mate Les for bring along a couple of friends who wanted to try some fishing out and in spite of the rain on Thursday they got amongst ’em as did another friend Craig enjoying a break from work in Australia. Season ticket holder “DOT” joined us for the afternoon and she was kept busy with 23 fish for the session including several nice Siamese carp.
Things were much the same yesterday as we were joined by Mark and Claire, Brits living in New Zealand who made the trip to us from Khao Lak which is a couple of hours away on the mainland. Their trip was worthwhile as they were rewarded with lots of fish. Our mate Gary also joined us for the day enjoying his first full day on Phuket, again lots of fish for him fishing from the disabled swim right next to the bar….now there’s a coincidence ! Uk angler Dave was back for the third time in a week with his mate and in spite of one his rods getting pulled in they were getting plenty of action. He was a tad p**ssed off with himself but don’t worry we got the rod back, fish and all so all is ok. Other anglers from various nationalities joined us for short sessions and all did well and our pal Tim’s fly fishing skills improve every time he visits with red tail catfish falling to his offerings.
As day turned to night we were joined by a few more friends as Jen had planned a bar b q to see off some friends who are going for a little road trip to Samui and Chang Mai, any excuse for a gathering and a few “cold ones” and a pleasant evening was had in great company and a little warm up for Monday’s Halloween do.
A day of rest today which will probably be our last “day off” before the high season but we’re back at it again from 8.30 tomorrow morning for fishing and a bit of a spooky do as the sun goes down for the kids (large and small!) everyone welcome and of course there will be a few nibbles.
Come and join us for some……….”FUNFISHIN!”…..🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟🎃🎃🎃👻👹☠️

A fairly quiet Wednesday but action packed…..

When the Fish are biting
A fairly quiet Wednesday but action packed for a couple from the UK who bagged up on a morning session.Lots of fish yesterday for a nice mix of new customers and familiar faces. Our pal Paul was back again and he bought his mate along for a short session and the rain in the morning did nothing to stop their action with plenty of fish between them
Dan’nLad team Sanjay and Kiran from London joined us for the afternoon and bagged up on Siamese carp, Mekong Catfish, Walking Catfish, Pacu, Striped Catfish and Red Tails near non stop with Sanjay asking if we supplied pacemakers as well as fishing tackle, top fella and nice to have a “cold one” with him at “the office table”afterwards.
Our pal Jimmy was back and into the Chao Phraya once again, this one was only a pup but still gave him a scrap along with other species.
Season ticket holder “Dot” also joined the fun in the afternoon with a haul of 23 fish including 7 Siamese carp. Hubby Malcolm was keeping scores and as above a little social gathering after the fishing is always the best way to end the day.
Things have gone a little quieter once again so availability is good every day for the time being, we are hoping that this will be the calm before the storm, the monsoon winds have changed direction and while we are still sure to see some more rain the weather in general will be a lot more settled in the days to come. Better weather means more people so there is no better time than now to put a bend in the rod. PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE COMING, book your place and join us for some…..”FUNFISHIN!”……..🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎

While the customers were a little thin on the ground……

When the Fish are biting
While the customers were a little thin on the ground the fish just kept on coming and those who did cast a line really did “bag up”.
A couple from Australia had booked through a tour company for the day and they were into the fish from the first cast with Siamese Carp, Red Tails, Pacu, Striped Cats and more keeping them both very busy.
The same thing went for a couple from Singapore who joined us for a short session in the afternoon and below is the review that they kindly left for us.

First time fishing overseas and it was such a fun experience. Staff was very helpful and we were getting bites every 5-10 minutes! Fishes were huge with long fighting time. Totally worth the money spent!
There were two other “phone bookings” due yesterday amounting to 4 customers and another the previous day amounting to 2 customers. These were all “no shows” and did not have the decency to let us know they weren’t coming. We ask customers to contact us before coming so that we can plan the day, get tackle ready and pre mix the ground bait, thaw out any frozen baits and generally get everything prepared so the customer is not hanging around. When a customer contacts us the “booking” is written in the book and positions around the lake are allocated meaning if other customers want to fish these positions are blocked out meaning we may well have put off other potential customers. We appreciate that these people are on holiday and owe us nothing but manners also cost nothing and a call or a message would be very easy. As a business that has just about survived the last couple of years we can not afford to loose out like this so from now on THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GUARANTEE A BOOKING IS IT IS MADE THROUGH THE BOOKING FORM ON OUR WEBSITE WITH DEPOSITS PAID THROUGH OUR PAY PAL ACCOUNT, ITS SIMPLE, SECURE AND EVERYONE KNOWS WHERE THEY STAND.
We will still continue to welcome walk in customers and will still encourage them to contact us prior to coming. This not only helps us out but will save them a wasted journey and probably a taxi fare if we are fully booked.
A couple of names in todays book, hopefully they will turn up but there is still lots of availability, the fish are bang up for it so you really won’t be disappointed , GET IN TOUCH and join us for some………”FUNFISHIN!”………..🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎

After last weeks torrential rain the weather sorted itself out a little…..

When the Fish are biting
After last weeks torrential rain the weather sorted itself out a little over the weekend and Saturday was fairly busy with customers from England, Poland, Australia and Korea all getting amongst the fish.
Our pal Jimmy Robinson was here for the afternoon. Jim fishes here regularly and has caught most of our species and while he has caught Arapaima at other venues he claimed his first one here, the first of many in the future we hope. Not to be out done a young Korean lad who was here with his family also claimed an “Arry”, a little help was needed but that is sure to be a fish that he won’t forget, well done little fella.
A customer from Poland started with a short 2.5-hour morning session, extended to half-day and as the fish kept coming he extended it to a full day which kinda speaks for itself really.
Much the same yesterday, the Arapaima didn’t show so the Chao Phraya Cats stepped in instead and anyone who has caught one of these will vouch that they are a force to be reckoned with. It was nice to see some returning Danish customers yesterday and young Enyo from Switzerland was back for either the third or fourth time. Another repeat customer from Scotland and a couple of new faces to boot. A little rain in the morning meant a couple of no shows yet again. Our online booking system will be up and running very soon and THAT WILL BE THE ONLY WAY THAT WE CAN GUARANTEE A PLACE. Not something that we want to do but the few ruin things for others and it’s amazing how a little rain or that food poisoning seems to be forgotten when a deposit has been paid.
There is sure to be a little more rain over the next days, and weeks but the monsoon winds are turning to mean far more settled weather. If it’s very sunny the same shelters that keep the rain off also protect from the sun and are all around the lake. The fridge is full, and the lake is fuller with lots of very hungry fish so why not join us for some………..”FUNFISHIN!”……….🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎

A much quieter week with the torrential rains…..

When the Fish are biting
A much quieter week with the torrential rains keeping people away. Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday were complete non starters as it rained heavily non stop. A little better Thursday when our pals Lau Kau and Anders joined us for the day and another friend Barry Gregory aka”Crusty” came along with his mate for the afternoon, 28 fish in just over 2 hours for them so they were kept busy. Our friend Dorothy was well into the fish in the afternoon before the rains returned once again.
The brave were well rewarded with Brit anglers Graham and Keith bagging up on Siamese Carp, Amazon and Asian Red Tails, Pacu and Striped Catfish on a half day afternoon session yesterday with a fly fisherman for the States also catching well on a short session.
The forecast is definitely getting better and while there is sure to still be a little more wet stuff around for over the next few day and weeks the monsoon is shifting and it won’t be long before we are all complaining that its too hot and we wish it would rain.
The Mrs and me are taking little Jazzy for a quick mini break before she goes back to school, this will be the first time we have gone anywhere overnight in 3 long years and while we do live in paradise it will be nice to get away for a day or two but don’t worry things will still be up and running as normal here you just won’t have to look at my ugly mug !
The lake is full and the fish are well up for it…..come and join us for some……..”FUNFISHIN!”…….🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎
