A busy weekend and the usual mix of old and new faces from all over the world.
The unusual weather and slightly cooler nights has made the fishing a little more challenging over the last few days and reading posts and getting messages from other anglers and friends across Thailand this seems to be the case at many other venues. Well there is nothing wrong with a challenge and sometimes putting that little bit more effort in can be very rewarding and lots of good fish were landed with everyone getting in on the action. The Amazon Red Tails can be a little more fickle at this time of the year but still several coming out along with Pacu, Walking Catfish, Striped Catfish, Siamese Carp, Chao Phraya Catfish along with a few more Mekong Catfish that do seem to be coming back to life again, fingers crossed a bit more consistently sunny weather and they will be back on the munch properly again.
Yesterday was tinged with sadness as we heard the sad news that our old pal Jim Stewart had passed away peacefully at his home. A true character, passionate sea angler and all round nice fella Jimmy ran fishing trips from Phuket and until recently had the “Drift Inn” in Rawai where many a tail of the one that got away were told. We have all been amazed at how hard and for how long Jimmy fought his illness, a true fighter and no doubt he will be “skinning one up” somewhere up there. RIP to the old pirate, sleep easy mate.
