A Very Wet Monsoon Day

MORNING WORLD…..

A very wet monsoon day saw our pal Mark Lawrence make the most of his day off from Islander Sports bar and restaurant in Rawai and join us for an afternoons fishing.
 
Mark set out to try to target the Mekong Cats and the Siamese Carp both of which have been hard to come by of late with the carp having little feeding flurries and then going off again and the Mekong on the missing list for weeks even months now. Both of these species are filter feeders and with little sun of late there is little algae so maybe that is why they are scarce but they are sure to turn on very soon as we approach the end of the rains.
 
Mark did have a couple of big lumps spit and even straighten hooks but it was still non stop action for him with well over 40 fish in around 4 hours and he said himself he only sat down once. Pacu, Striped Catfish and Walking Catfish were just going barmy with lots of fish on the drop and several double hookups and we wonder what the tally would have been if the predators were targeted more which Mark opted to do towards the end of the session and was rewarded with a nice Chao Phraya Catfish, a perfect ending to a very busy session and the picture of Marks float shows just how hard the fish were hitting it on the drop.
 
Want a bit of this ?? Very high catch rates and the bigger fish sure to start showing in numbers any time now.

DEALS

We have had a couple of people ask us if we are currently doing any deals and so the poster below should answer that question as we are basically offering our fishing at half price in an effort to tempt ex pats and remaining stranded tourists on the Island. All the usual things are included in the price and with very little pressure on the lake, very good catch rates are to be expected. We have removed our short 3 hour session as it would just not be worth doing and the half day package is great value anyway.

Please note that we do not offer hourly rates and the packages that we are offering do not even come close to meeting our running costs so please do not ask for further reductions.

We were also offering a half days fishing with 8 cold ones included a couple of days a week for just 1,000 baht (do the math) but we had no takers so we will have a re think.

Virtually all businesses here are struggling with the majority not even open and many perhaps closed for good. We are very aware that this is the same world over and this is not a cry for help, just putting it out there for you and the fish photos were all caught in the last week so why not come and catch some for yourselves and enjoy some “FUNFISHIN!”…..??????????
