The Arapaima have been elusive lately so…

When the Fish are biting
The Arapaima have been elusive lately so the law of averages dictated that we were due one and we ll done to English angler Andy who bought this one to the pen along with several other fish including Mekong Catfish, Siamese Carp, Pacu and others for a haul of over 20 fish and one very happy chap at the end of the day. Similar results for our other customers from England, Russia and the Czech Republic. A little afternoon rain and muggy conditions slowed things down a little but they soon started feeding again as the day went on. The rain is fairly uncommon for this time of year as we approach the hottest time of the year with March 5th the official day for the heat to start according to the officials so it will probably snow!
We continue to be busy every day and we are looking forward to welcoming some old customers and friends this afternoon.
In spite of all our efforts to advise people not to just turn up as their taxi pulls away and we have to tell them we are fully booked, they still keep coming every day so here it is again…..PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE COMING TO CHECK AVAILABILITY OR BETTER STILL PRE BOOK BY USING THE FORM ON OUR WEBSITE, BOOKINGS CAN ALSO BE MADE IN PERSON WITH CASH DEPOSITS OR VIA THAI BANK TRANSFERS. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY BOOKINGS OVER THE PHONE WITHOUT DEPOSITS, SORRY BUT SO MANY “NO-SHOWS” LEFT US NO CHOICE.
There it is it’s very simple to get yourselves booked and join us for some……..”FUNFISHIN!”………..🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎

The second part of the week continued to be busy…

When the Fish are biting
The second part of the week continued to be busy and the fish keep on coming. There’s no denying that lately the fishing has been a little tougher for some than it can be but the Mekong Catfish are definitely making themselves noticed with more being caught every day so the average weights are well up with the Siamese Carp and the Chao Phraya Catfish also adding to the sport. The red Tails are still not as active as they can be and the same can be said for the Pacu but if they do show up in your swim you will know all about it as our mate “Norway Mick” found out yesterday as they gave him a bumper day along with several other species for his last session of this trip, safe travels mate, until next time. We continue to say farewell to many customers who have become friends but on the upside, we also welcome back old faces and new ones every day. We can’t control what the fish do. Still, we can do everything possible to make their environment as good as possible which in theory makes the feed well, we do all that we can do to give our customers a good experience and it’s lovely when we receive messages of thanks as below.

Messages like that make us more determined to be better still and if you’d like some of the same get yourselves booked in and join us for some………”FUNFISHIN!”……….🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎

A busy weekend and start to this week…

When the Fish are biting
A busy weekend and start to this week, lots of customers ad lots of fish. The Mekong Catfish continue to feed well, these very hard-fighting fish can grow to enormous sizes, ours are only a part of the size they can achieve but still have a guaranteed workout for anyone. The new Grass carp and Rohu are still well on the feed along with some lovely little Albino Striped Catfish, as well as the Siamese Carp. The Red Tails are showing a little more again now as are the Pacu and when they are properly back on the feed the catch rates will rise as well.
We have customers from literally all over the world and everything runs smoothly most of the time but its a shame that some ruin things for others with some from a certain nationality seem hell bent on moving the goal posts. When we say no rod sharing we mean it but some seem to think that because their husband is fishing that they have the right to cut in and fish as well free of charge, I wonder if she takes some of his shots when he plays golf, he tees off and she puts….I doubt it somehow. The same guy decided to tie an additional hook to his rig and then completely denied that he had done it, only he (and his Mrs) had used that rod and the staff definitely would not have tied that rig so someone was telling porkies ……as they say, there’s nowt as queer as folk!
We continue to be busy just about every day and more often than not a couple of days’ notice is required, so if you are looking for a bend in the rod, give us a shout and book your place, by all means, bring the Mrs along but is he wants to fish she will have to pay like everyone else and then go on to enjoy some…..”FUNFISHIN!”………🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎

After resting the lake for a day on Wednesday…

When the Fish are biting
After resting the lake for a day on Wednesday the second half of the week continued to be very busy with customers of all ages and experience form all over the world including Australia, England, Ireland, Hungary, Italy, Russia, USA, Ukraine, Sweden and no doubt a couple of other places that I can’t remember or spell!
The Mekong Catfish are making their presence known more and more each day and while they may be bullying some of the other species making catch rates a little lower than we have been used to when they are up for it all of the usual suspects are being caught including plenty of Siamese Carp, Pacu, Grass Carp, Rohu, the odd Big Head Carp and Amazon Red Tail catfish when they are in the mood which more often than not is at the start and the end of the days.
Our pal Daniel Teuma has been a regular over the last few weeks and he managed to squeeze one last session in before heading back to Blighty, we wish him safe travels and look forward to seeing him again later in the year.
As is expected I have many customers ask me what the best time of the day is and the honest answer is that we never really know. Lately the afternoons seem to have fished a little better and unusually there has been some good action in the middle of the day but this can all change very quickly, when they are up for it you will know all about it and when they are not I will as I will see customers standing with their hands on their hips wondering if we have any fish, or sitting staring at their phones, those who know, know and that’s why its called fishing.
The weekend is with us and can sometimes be a little quieter (Friday night is Friday night even if you are on holiday and every night is Friday night !) so there is a small amount of availability for today, tomorrow and into next week but places filling fast so if you fancy a bend in the rod get yourselves booked in and join us for some………”FUNFISHIN!”………🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎

A good start to the week as some customers…

When the Fish are biting
A good start to the week as some customers squeeze in a last session for this holiday in while others joined us for the first time on this trip so we welcome some and say farewell to others. As the photos show the Mekong are most definitely back and putting people through their paces, some of the other species are a little thinner on the ground than normal but most of the usual suspects are on the feed at some part of the day. Some days the mornings fish better and some days its the afternoons, some days it can be hard going and some days they are jumping on the hook and that’s fishing for you so if you fancy some of the same get yourselves booked and join us for some………”FUNFISHIN!”……….🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎

Still busy every day and still lots of good fish…

When the Fish are biting
Still busy every day and still lots of good fish showing. The catch rates have been a little lower of late with different times of the day fishing better than others but no two days the same with perhaps the afternoons fishing a little better than the mornings but that can all change overnight. Catch rates may be down a little, but the Mekong Cats are back up for it again more than makes up for it and the Chao Phraya Catfish and Siamese Carp workout is definitely on the cards. It was nice to see our friends Danny and Stevie yesterday afternoon, Danny got well amongst the Mekong Cats 3 years ago in the pre covid days and it was great to see him doing it all again yesterday afternoon. The newly introduced Rohu and Grass Carp are still feeding well to give a little more variety and as ever there is always a chance of connecting with one of the Arapaima, elusive and more hooked and lost than landed and they continue to tease when they come up for air right next to you.
As mentioned above we continue to be very busy every day and so as we did last month we have made the decision to rest the lake for a day this coming Wednesday 22nd. Customers should allow two days’ notice if they want to fish and bookings can be made with deposits on www.chalongfishingpark.com or in person with cash or with Thai bank transfers. We do still welcome walk in customers but there is usually very little availability at the moment and when we say we are full that is exactly what it means so please don’t tell us you can squeeze in between other customers that are already fishing, that’s just selfish, our decision is final and all this information is out there and it’s very easy to contact us before coming.
There may be a little space this afternoon and the same goes for tomorrow, closed this Wednesday and availability is ok from Thursday onwards but places are filling fast so get yourselves booked and join us for some……..”FUNFISHIN!”……🎣🎣🎣🐠🐠🐠🐟🐟🐟😎😎😎
