It’s called the rainy season for a reason and this one has been the wettest that I have seen and some are saying the wettest for 20 years. Lots of areas flooded including Phuket Town and the tourist hub Patong but from what I am hearing and reading the flood water has subsided in these areas and knowing Thailand a big clear up will have already been started and things will be “normal” again within hours. Our thoughts are with some friends who’s businesses were affected and we hope that not too much damage has been done at a time when no business needs any more problems.
We were closed yesterday and I doubt we would have seen anyone if we were open, one because of the rain and two because so many roads were closed due to mudslides etc. again most of these will have been cleared by now.
I walked around the lake several times yesterday and this morning and the levels were more than up but thankfully we have an overflow in place and this morning the levels are absolutely perfect. The water quality is good and there are lots of fish showing for all the right reasons so all good here. The second lake which due to covid has been on the back burner for 2 1/2 years is half full and if and when we get more rain it may well fill up…will it hold water now ? boy I hope so we will just have to wait and see.
The forecast does say that more rain due over the next few days so lets hope no more damage is done and as I type this it looks like it may be starting again with some big dark clouds out to the west, lets just hope its a quick blast.
So, what to do on a rainy day ????? Its unlikely to be on a boat or a beach and I don’t know many anglers who are that keen on shopping but with cover all around the lake a “dangle” is definitely an option and the last few days, weeks and months are all the proof you need that the fish really are not bothered by the rain and the truth is you should be getting wet for those photos of the fish with them in the water so f you are stuck for something to do why not join the few brave folk who have already booked and put a bend in your rod. Food and drinks are served right next to the lake, showers to clean up, towels and rain Macs provided and if it is a little more chilly than normal we will make up for that with a warm welcome so give us a shout and join us for some…….”FUNFISHIN!”……..
