MORNING WORLD……..After a very busy January the first couple of weeks of this month have been similar but just a little more relaxed and as ever plenty of fish.
The Mekong Cats continue to dominate with lots of these hard fighting brutes being caught each day. The Siamese Carp are a bit like London buses at the moment, none for a while then lots at the same time and the same can be said for the Amazon Red Tails, more than obliging one day and you’d think they’d moved out the next. Pacu and Striped Catfish keep things interesting, a few Tambaqui, Asian Red Tails a couple of the recently introduced Tiger Red Tails which will grow quickly, the odd Alligator Gar as well as other species to keep things interesting. Only a couple of weeks ago we stocked a few Atlantic Tarpon. I doubt we’ll actually see many photos of these as they are one of the most acrobatic fish out there, known for surging runs, leaping out of the water, tail walking and shaking the hook more often than not so it was great to see our pal Tim Darton do battle with one, all be it very quickly, these fish move fast and the battle was over as quick as it started…next time Tim. Everyone wants an Arapaima and typically this is one of the most difficult fish to catch here with lots more being hooked and lost than hooked and bought to the pen so we are happy that three of these beauties stayed around long enough for photos this week.
