Rob and Albert Joined Us Yesterday

MORNING WORLD…..

As mentioned in our previous post our pals Rob and Albert joined us yesterday to try to beat the lake record of 86 fish in a day. This has become a bit of a regular thing and with so many “off days” over the last 15 months we are happy to open up for them. They were here bright and early, very early in fact as they tucked into a full English breakfast at 6am and were fishing 30 minutes later. These boys fish hard, they really work at it and are happy to use and pay for lots of bait to keep the fish interested. Spare rods were available to hand so if there were any snap offs no fishing time would be lost and they were catching from the start. Siamese Carp, Chao Phraya Catfish, Arapaima, Striped Catfish, Walking Catfish, Amazon, Asian and Tiger Red Tail Catfish, Pacu and some Java Barb that were not even counted in the final tallies all graced the nets on a very busy day.

Was the lake record broken?…..NO, IT WAS SMASHED TO BITS with Robert Porter catching 112 fish for the day which works out to a fish every 6 1/2 minutes over 12 hours and when you take into account that many of the fish caught were several kilos in weight and take several minutes to play and land that really is non stop fishing.

Albert Greenaway who has previously come out on top in their “fish offs” could not match Rob’s catch rate and he settled for 65 fish in the session which is still remarkable and a couple of nice Arapaima in the mix for him to make up for taking the silver medal.

A total of 177 fish caught between them and guess what they’re back again in two weeks to see if they can better it, well done guys and well done to the guides Jack and Dee who were running around like headless chickens all day.

DEALS

We have had a couple of people ask us if we are currently doing any deals and so the poster below should answer that question as we are basically offering our fishing at half price in an effort to tempt ex pats and remaining stranded tourists on the Island. All the usual things are included in the price and with very little pressure on the lake, very good catch rates are to be expected. We have removed our short 3 hour session as it would just not be worth doing and the half day package is great value anyway.
 
Please note that we do not offer hourly rates and the packages that we are offering do not even come close to meeting our running costs so please do not ask for further reductions.
 
We were also offering a half days fishing with 8 cold ones included a couple of days a week for just 1,000 baht (do the math) but we had no takers so we will have a re think.
 
Virtually all businesses here are struggling with the majority not even open and many perhaps closed for good. We are very aware that this is the same world over and this is not a cry for help, just putting it out there for you and the fish photos were all caught in the last week so why not come and catch some for yourselves and enjoy some “FUNFISHIN!”…..??????????
